About Spencer (that's me)

It took me almost 6 hours to figure out why

if (len(givenInput) > 5 && < 20){ ... }

failed to run. In fact I didn't even figure it out on my own–it took my friend a whole 5 seconds to solve my mistake. And once he showed me how to fix it, it just clicked. From then on, I could solve that bug in 5 seconds. And I have solved it for many of my friends learning to program.

That's one of the best parts of engineering: the continuous uphill climb, breaking problems into small digestible bits, searching for answers and testing out solutions to find the best one, all while collaborating with others to solve large problems.

The other part of engineering I love is the amount of agency it gives me. I think engineering is the equivalent of being able to write in a world driven by software. Through software development I can share my thoughts and ideas with others.

I majored in Economics and minored in Computer Science at USC in Los Angeles. I filled my spare time with classes on neuroscience and game design, swing dance, and being a member of USC's Rocket Propulsion Lab (check it out, its pretty neat)

I grew up in and currently live in NYC.
